Course Description:
The course is designed to be hands-on, practical applications of computer
software. . It is geared to help students use the computer as a tool to be used
in their personal and perhaps professional lives as well. It is our goal,
additionally, to have the students become well versed in computer use so that
can use it to spread the Gospel in their personal lives This is the first
semester of Microsoft Office 2000 and includes word processing (MS Word),
spreadsheet (MS Excel), and Internet use (MS Explorer). The course also helps
students use the Windows operating system (Windows 98 and Windows

relational database, MS PowerPoint presentations, MS Publisher, Internet use The

Windows NT). Along with individual projects, several group projects will be
assigned.

Course Description: This course will enable the students to obtain a
basic concept of nutritional meal planning and preparation skills for
application in our daily lives as Christians. It will emphasize our God-given
blessings in the array of nutritious foods he has provided for us. Applying
this basic premise in the care of our physical and spiritual temples will be
focal point for the course.

Course Description: The Art I course will consist of an overview of
learning to appreciate God’s gift of the visual arts through the language of
art, art criticism, aesthetic judgment, art history and art careers. Studio
projects in connection with these areas will be pursued.
Course Name: Art II

Prerequisites: Art I
Course Description: The Art II course will lead the students to
appreciate God’s gift of the visual arts through the study of certain areas or
mediums of art. Different and varying semesters of art exploration will be
offered such as; sculpture, advanced drawing, painting, crafts and papermaking,
or an in depth study of Art History. The decision as to which semester would be
pursued would be at the discretion of the instructor. Students must have the
instructor’s approval to take this course.
Course Name: Sewing

Course Description: God has given his creation a bounty of abilities and
materials with which to praise him, their creator. This course is about
focusing varying abilities in the area of sewing fabrics in both a decorative
and functional way. Students will be given the opportunity to use hand
stitching skills and machine operation in a God pleasing manner. It will focus
on fabrics, patterns, design and function for both apparel and domestic items.
Course Name: Mechanical Drafting and Design
Grade Level: 11, 12
Full Year Course: 1.0 Credit

Course Description: The first part of this course covers a general
introduction to the field of drafting and design. It is completed “on the
board” with traditional drafting equipment. The second part of the course is a
general introduction to computer-aided drafting and design. In the third part
of this course the student will use the computer and the AutoCAD LT software to
complete mechanical drafting exercises.
Course Name: Architectural Drafting and Design

Prerequisites: Mechanical Drafting and Design
Course Description: The student learns the basics of architecture and
design. The student then applies the acquired knowledge by designing and
sketching rooms and areas of a residential building and then the appropriate
house plans. Finally, the student will use the computer and the AutoCAD LT
software to draw a set of architectural plans for the house of their design. If
complete, the student will have his set of plans entered in the Home Design
Contest sponsored by the Home Builders of FDL and Dodge Counties.
Course Name: Introduction to Wood Technology

Course Description: An elective course designed to offer students an
opportunity to learn how to use tools (hand and power) to create and build
assigned projects. There is both a classroom phase where the basics are first
taught and a laboratory phase where the students will apply what they have
learned.
Course Name: Cabinet Making/Mass Production
Grade Level: 11, 12
One Semester Course: 0.5 Credit
Prerequisites: Introduction to Wood Technology
Course Description: An elective course designed to give the student
an opportunity to learn the techniques and skills needed to construct a simple
cabinet. The student also learns the basic fundamental principles of mass
production. If time allows, the student will work on a cabinet project of their
choosing.
Course Name: Home Construction Technology
Grade Level: 11, 12
One Semester Course: 0.5 Credit (Note: This class is only taught in
the spring.)
Prerequisites: Introduction to Wood Technology
Course Description: This elective course will introduce the student to the
basics of rough carpentry. The student will learn about new materials and
technologies in home construction and how to build the four main components of a
house: floor, walls, ceiling, and roof. Shingling and siding will also be
discussed. The student will apply the knowledge they learned in the classroom
by building scale models of some of the component(s). Finally, the student will
assist in building a structure of some sort that will be sold or donated to a
local cause.
